Goodbye, Another Old Friend And PosTake Update

After much deliberation, we have decided to retire the PosAlt workstation which has proven redundant to PosTake. We opted to retire PosAlt instead of PosTake because the current system is still largely devoted to supporting acquisitions in their many different forms.

PosAlt served faithfully for many years after its initial inception as an individual workstation to compliment the husband/wife duo in our household. Its necessity has slowly lost ground, first when we no longer felt the need for unfettered individual access to compute time and then when the majority of our workstation projects had completed and we no longer felt the need for a background machine to support time intensive tasks.

PosTake, which was initially envisioned as a simple and low-power computer devoted simply to wide format acquisitions, has remained a necessity as the years have worn on. It currently provides access to MiniDisc, Cassette, Compact Disc, VHS, and Vinyl digitization. With the convergence of power and efficiency popularized over the past decade in the PC industry, there is no longer any need to separate workstation from low-power acquisition. With its current upgrade installed, PosTake has overtaken PosAlt as the only necessary workstation support for the household.

PosTake now manages acquisitions, background tasking and gamestream with the following setup:

Asus X370-A
AMD Ryzen 5 1600X
Corsair H60
G.Skill TridentZ 16GB DDR4 3000
Samsung 250GB M.2 2280 SSD
