All of the spare parts have been gathered together and installed. It's not an impressive conglomeration, but free stuff is rarely the cream of the crop. The current specs of the system are as follows:
Case: Fong-Kai FK320B
PSU: Enermax Coolergiant 450W ATXv2.0
CPU: AMD Athlon64 3000+
Motherboard: Asus A78N-E
RAM: 3GB Corsair
HSU: Zalmann
GPU: Radeon X800GTO
SPU: Creative Labs Audigy 2 Value
HDD1: (2) Seagate 80GB Sata1 @ Raid 0
HDD2: (2) Western Digital 300GB Pata133 @ Raid 0
ODD1: Plextor CD-RW
ODD2: Sony DVD-ROM
This should provide a total storage payload of about 600GB for the Hustons, which will not be enough to manage all of the video files they are planning to load onto it. However, the computer will more importantly supply a baseline for connecting more external hard drives to expand its capacity significantly.
After getting the hardware installed and situated, it's time to work on installing Windows Vista Ultimate. Windows Vista was chosen because it was (1) available and (2) capable of sharing files with Windows 7 easily. As of abandonment, Windows Vista was still refusing to install on the raided hard drives.
