I had really limited time to work on the fileserver yesterday, so I didn't accomplish anything more fantastic than furthering my frustration with trying to install Windows.
Today was much more fruitful, though. I finally figured out the Windows installation problem. I didn't realize that I had to set the raid drive as the boot drive in both the BIOS and the Raid Utility. Once I did that, the Windows installation went smoothly.
Later, the bad setting became a non-issue when I removed the second raid drive I was trying to run. Windows refused to recognize the second raid drive and I think it is due to some driver issues. I could not find a driver to fix the problem, so I broke the two 300GB hard drives out into separate drives.
Now the computer is formatting the second 300GB and getting ready for a big file transfer. My Fileserver has been shut down for the night (to keep the room cool) so the transfer will begin in the morning. In the meantime, Windows has been successfully updated and the general cleaning process is begun.
